The recent devastation caused by Super Typhoon Haiyan in the Philippines has left me deeply saddened. The loss of life, homes, and hope is a tragedy that weighs heavily on my heart.
I often wonder why such suffering befalls the Filipino people. Why does God allow these calamities to occur? But perhaps, as difficult as it may be to understand, God has a higher purpose. He tests our faith, our resilience, and our compassion. As Pope Francis wisely said, “God gives the hardest battles to the strongest soldiers.” And indeed, we Filipinos have proven time and again that we possess extraordinary strength.
The outpouring of global support has been truly heart-warming. Millions of pesos have been donated by countries around the world. It’s our hope that these funds will reach those who need them most, without falling into the wrong hands. In the meantime, we can do our part by offering assistance, whether it be through donations or volunteer work. Let us trust in God’s plan and continue to support one another.
In these challenging times, I urge you to take a moment to offer a prayer for the victims, their families, and our beloved Philippines. Every prayer, no matter how short, can make a difference. Thank you for your compassion and support.
