Wilson and Sheena Engagement Session

It's always a joy to reconnect with familiar faces, especially when it's to celebrate a new chapter in their lives. I first met Sheena a few years ago, when she was the maid of honour at her sister Khristia's wedding. Now, it was her turn to walk down the aisle, and I was honoured to be the one to capture her special day.

For their engagement session, we chose the enchanting Labyrinth Park in Horta. The park's romantic atmosphere, with its winding paths, lush greenery, and picturesque waterfall, provided the perfect backdrop for their love story. The interplay of light and shadow, combined with the vibrant colours of the flowers, created a truly magical setting.

A huge thank you to Wilson and Sheena for inviting me to be a part of their special day and for the delicious lunch at Happy Grill. It was a pleasure working with you both.

A Glimpse into Kayla's World

Kayla is a fascinating young girl with a vibrant personality. She's intelligent, curious, and has a unique perspective on the world. She's also a loving and caring individual, though she can be a bit stubborn at times.

One of Kayla's most striking qualities is her gift of gab. Once she starts talking, it's hard to get her to stop! She has a lot to say and isn't afraid to express herself. Sometimes, her non-stop chatter can be overwhelming, and I've had to gently remind her to take a break. It's clear that she has a lot to say, and I'm always amazed by her ability to articulate her thoughts.

Navigating the complexities of parenting a nine-year-old requires a delicate balance. Kayla, with her sensitive nature and tendency to bicker with her younger brother, Keiron, can be challenging. It's important to be firm and direct, setting clear boundaries and expectations. However, it's equally important to remain calm and empathetic, listening patiently to her perspective.

We've cultivated a strong bond with Kayla, involving ourselves in her life without being overly controlling. We support her academic endeavours, attend church together, and instil values of faith and respect. As she grows, we recognize the need to dedicate more time to her, listening attentively to her thoughts and concerns. By providing her with the attention and understanding she needs, we hope to foster a positive and supportive relationship.

I hope that when Kayla is older, she'll be able to read this blog post and understand the love and affection behind it. It's important to me that she doesn't misinterpret my intentions. I know she can be sensitive, and I wouldn't want to hurt her feelings. However, I share these stories because I love her deeply and want to document her growth and development. She is my pride and joy, and I'm committed to being the best father I can be.

This sweet girl with her adorable dimples is growing up so quickly. She's already as petite as her mother. I have no doubt that she'll become a wonderful and responsible adult, but she'll always hold a special place in my heart as my little baby girl.

Keiron: A Little Bundle of Joy

Keiron, our four-year-old son, has a sweet tooth. He loves golosinas or sweets. While we strive to provide him with nutritious meals, like most kids, he's not a fan of vegetables. He once tried to outsmart us by hiding spinach under the tablecloth! However, he does enjoy mashed potatoes and yogurt.

On school holidays, Keiron spends his days immersed in cartoons. He's a big fan of Phineas and Ferb, SpongeBob SquarePants, and Doraemon. He also loves superheroes like Spider-Man, Batman, and Bumblebee from Transformers. When he's not glued to the screen, he enjoys playing and running around with his sister, Kayla, though their playful interactions often lead to sibling squabbles.

Keiron is incredibly close to his mother. She loves him dearly, cuddling, playing, and tickling him endlessly. This strong bond can sometimes make it challenging for him to connect with others, including me. While I know he loves me, he doesn't always show it in the same way. He often resists walking, preferring to be carried on my shoulders, and can become quite upset when I refuse. His tantrums can be intense, involving kicking, punching, and scratching. It's a constant learning experience for us as parents to set boundaries and maintain control, even during these difficult moments. We've learned that indulging tantrums only reinforces negative behaviour.

Keiron is a delightful child, full of energy and enthusiasm. He loves racing me and playing football. His first wish in a wishing well with a coin is a pelota or a ball. He make us laugh with his funny antics and mispronunciations. At his age of 4 he still couldn't pronounce the letter R. He's a kind and grateful boy, always appreciative of the things we give him. And the most I like in him, he is sweet.

Watching him grow up so quickly is bittersweet. He brings so much joy to our family, and I can't help but wonder what great things he'll accomplish in the future. I cherish every moment we spend together and am incredibly grateful for his presence in my life. I pray to God that I'll be there to witness his own journey of parenthood, that maybe too much to ask, but for now, I'm content with the blessing of having him. I thank God for both Keiron and Kayla; they are our greatest treasures.

A Colourful Encounter

One of the many charms of Barcelona is its vibrant street markets. These bustling marketplaces offer a glimpse into the city's rich culture and diverse communities. Whether you're exploring the historic streets of the Gothic Quarter or the modern avenues of the Eixample district, you're likely to stumble upon a market teeming with local artisans, vendors, and unique goods.

During our recent trip in Blanes, we stumbled upon a colourful street market along the Paseo Marítimo alongside the Platja de s'Abanell. A particular stall caught our eye, displaying a dazzling array of handmade bracelets. The vibrant colours and intricate designs were truly captivating. I couldn't resist snapping a few photos, and the friendly vendor was happy to share her story with me. In return, I promised to feature her stall in my blog.

Unfortunately, the bracelet I purchased for my daughter, Kayla, was lost on our way home. While it was disappointing, the memory of that colourful encounter remains. It's a reminder of the unexpected joys and fleeting moments that make travel so special.

Leo & Apple Engagement Session

Last June, I had the pleasure of capturing the love story of Leo and Apple in the enchanting Jardins de Mossèn Cinto Verdaguer. This hidden gem, nestled near the Montjuïc funicular, is a photographer's dream, with its lush greenery, vibrant flowers, and serene ponds.

I knew from the start when they chose me to be their wedding photographer, we were going to create something truly special. Their infectious energy and natural chemistry made the session a joy. We experimented with different poses, playing with light and shadow to create stunning images.

As the session progressed, Leo and Apple relaxed into their natural selves, their love for each other shining through. It was in these moments, when they were lost in each other's eyes, that I captured the most authentic and heartfelt images.

I can't wait to celebrate their wedding this October and continue to document their love story.

Recharging Our Souls

My summer vacation has come to an end. After a wonderful five-day stay in Blanes, we're back home. Those few days were the epitome of summer for me – relaxing with my family and creating lasting memories. Though brief, the time we spent together was incredibly fulfilling.

We chose Blanes as our summer vacation destination this year due to budget constraints. With peak travel season in Europe, international trips were beyond our reach. Blanes, a modern and vibrant town on the Costa Brava, proved to be an excellent alternative. Just an hour and fifteen-minute train ride from the city centre, it offers stunning beaches and coves. The town's designation as a Family Tourism Destination further solidified our choice, as it provides a wide range of family-friendly activities and services.

One of the main attractions in the town is the Marimurtra Botanical Garden, with more than 3,000 species of plants from 5 different continents. Below you'll find some photos of views and flowers inside the garden.

These past five days in Blanes have been truly memorable, filled with quality time with the loves of my life. Keiron delighted us with his enthusiasm for swimming, taking his first steps in the pool. Kayla amazed us all with her graceful underwater movements, making me wish I could swim as effortlessly as she does. And Cari, my constant companion, continues to be my rock, supporting me through thick and thin. While our vacation may have ended, the most precious gift is the renewed strength of our family bond.

"Vuelvo al trabajo el Lunes", "On Monday, I return to the daily grind." The stresses of work and financial worries will undoubtedly resurface. But these short breaks are essential for rejuvenation. My batteries are now fully charged, and I'm ready to face whatever challenges and trials that may come my way. I'm grateful for this wonderful experience and eager to embrace the future.

A Winter Encounter with Knut

In the winter of 2010, my family and I embarked on a Christmas vacation to Berlin. One of our stops was the renowned Berlin Zoo, home to one of the world’s largest animal collections. While the zoo boasts a diverse range of species, it was the polar bear Knut that truly stole the show.

Knut, a polar bear cub who captured the hearts of millions worldwide, was tragically lost in March 2011. I feel fortunate to have had the opportunity to witness his charm during our visit. This blog post serves as a tribute to this beloved animal.

All For The Glory Of The Almighty!

This year's YFC European Conference, themed "Almighty" after Mary's proclamation in Luke 1:46, “My soul proclaims the greatness of the Lord.” drew a record-breaking crowd of 380 young people to La Conreria, Barcelona, last August 3-5.

My wife and I were honoured to serve our fellow youth at this inspiring event. It was truly a blessing to witness the powerful presence of the Holy Spirit moving among the participants and the service team.

From the initial planning stages to the final day, the conference was filled with excitement and spiritual growth. Delegates from across Europe gathered for a weekend of worship, praise, competitions, sports, and fellowship. It was a fun-filled and unforgettable experience.

I was truly inspired by the passion and dedication of these young people. Their heartfelt worship and humble service were a powerful testimony to God's grace. I believe many of us, including myself, learned valuable lessons from their example. I'm confident that God was pleased and proud of them.

These young people, at such a tender age, are already beginning to understand their purpose in life. They're developing a deep relationship with Jesus Christ and recognizing their role as future leaders.

The lasting impact of this conference lies not just in the event itself, but in the connections forged between participants. The friendships and bonds formed will continue to grow and strengthen over time.

All of this is a testament to the power of God, the Almighty. To Him be all the glory!

An Artist's Perspective

Plaça Sant Josep Oriol, nestled just off La Rambla, is a vibrant square that attracts both artists and tourists alike. On weekends, the square transforms into a bustling artist's market, with colourful stalls showcasing a variety of creative works. Amidst this lively scene, this elderly artist has chosen to capture the square's essence with charcoal, emphasizing the spontaneity and freedom of his artistic expression.

The iconic Church of Santa Maria del Pi, with its impressive rose window, dominates the square. While the church's interior is relatively simple, its stunning stained glass windows are a sight to behold. Beyond its artistic and historical significance, the square also hosts various events, including arts and crafts fairs and markets selling local delicacies like miel or honey and queso mató or mild cheese.

It's a place where the old and the new coexist harmoniously, making it a captivating spot for anyone seeking a taste of Barcelona's vibrant culture.

The Gift of Imperfection

A few weeks ago, I lost my temper with Kayla. She was being stubborn, and I reacted harshly, scolding her and using harsh words. I was frustrated and wanted her to understand that her behaviour was inappropriate. In the end, I realized that I had overreacted and hurt her feelings.

To be a father is a demanding role. Sometimes, self-doubt creeps in, and I question myself if I'm fulfilling my responsibilities to my children. I often feel like I could be doing more. I believe this is a common sentiment among parents. Being a father is a constant balancing act, requiring sacrifice, selflessness, and the occasional pang of guilt.

I began to reflect on my daily routine. My days start early with a walk with Pancho, followed by work. After work, I often head to the gym, then back home for another walk with Pancho and some playtime with the kids. To supplement our income, I spend additional hours working on my computer at night. While I'm grateful for my routine, I can't deny its demands.

My wife has an even more demanding schedule. She prepares the kids for school, cooks meals, does laundry, irons clothes, washes dishes, and cleans the house. She has far more reasons to complain than I do.

Parenthood is undoubtedly a challenging endeavour. It's exhausting, demanding, and can sometimes feel overwhelming. However, it's also a beautiful blessing. By shifting our perspective and embracing the joy and love that comes with raising children, we can transform these challenges into opportunities for growth and fulfilment.

While I've experienced moments of doubt and frustration, I'm incredibly grateful for my family. My wife and children bring immense joy into my life and are the source of my strength and motivation. 

Through the trials and tribulations of parenthood, I've come to rely on my faith. God is good to me! He always made me realize that sometimes I need to deny myself and feel the hurt inside of me, to carry my cross and follow Him. I believe that these hardships are opportunities for spiritual growth, and that by seeking God's guidance and support, we can overcome any obstacle that comes our way.

Just want to share with you this bible phrase from Mark 8:34-35.

And when he had called the people and his disciples to himself, he said to them, "Whoever would come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me."

Later that day, Kayla approached me and apologized for her behaviour. I readily forgave her and explained why I had reacted so strongly, emphasizing that I didn't intend to use hurtful words. As she tearfully expressed her remorse, I could see the genuine regret in her eyes. I believe she understood the gravity of the situation.
